Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has taken the initiative to establish a ‘Comprehensive Kidney Care Center’ in Mohakhali of the capital to ensure low-cost dialysis and specialized treatment facilities for kidney patients.
To this end, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Sonar Bangla Foundation at the DNCC Nagar Bhaban auditorium in Gulshan on Tuesday.
The program was chaired by DNCC Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury and DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz was the chief guest.
Sonar Bangla Foundation President Dr. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, senior DNCC officials and kidney experts were also present at the program.
According to the signed agreement, a 50-bed dialysis unit will be launched in the first phase at the Dedicated Covid Hospital in Mohakhali. Low-cost dialysis services will be provided here. Later, this center will be converted into a full-fledged specialized hospital with kidney treatment and kidney transplant facilities.
DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz said, DNCC will provide all kinds of support to convert the 50-bed dialysis center into a specialized hospital. This partnership with Sonar Bangla Foundation is a milestone step in ensuring kidney treatment and dialysis facilities. The DNCC Administrator further said, “We do not want to build a society of equality, but a just society. This initiative will play a special role in the effort to make Dhaka a just city. The underprivileged people will benefit the most from this.”
